» Jump Super Stars has sold over 500,000 copies since it was released in August 2005.

Jump! Ultimate Stars is a fighting video game in development by Ganbarion and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. It is the sequel to the popular Nintendo DS title, Jump Super Stars. Current release date for Japan is November 23, 2006. The game premise is similar to Nintendo's multi-character platform beat'em-up series, Super Smash Bros. Like its predecessor, it will be difficult to release in the US due to copyright issues. However, this is unlikely to prevent Western fans of both Jump manga and the original game importing it in their droves.

The "Koma" system will still be used with the original 4-by-5 grid and touch screen. It seems this time, the player can use L and R button as hotkey to quickly call the characters into battle without the usage of touchpad. Also a leader system has been implemented. Furthermore, it appears characters can now cling on to ledges when falling adjacent to them. Exactly how this is performed is as of yet unknown, but it is likely a timed button press will be required to allow characters to grab onto the ledge as falling. Some of the stages include areas that can be reached by destroying walls, even the floor and ceiling.

Wi-Fi is also implemented for this sequel, so players can expect world wide combat. Information about the game is being released in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. So far at least 300 characters will be included in this title (versus 160 in Jump Super Stars). This sequel expects to have 40 titles involved versus 27 as the prequel.

Note 1: The support characters section is subject to change as from scans it cannot be determined whether certain characters are acting as battle characters or not. Note 2: All characters are based upon their manga related appearances as this game is based off Shonen Jump. Note 3: According to recent scans, Naruto characters will be in their post time skip forms. Note 4: Steel Ball Run is now part of the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure title, being part 7 of the saga. Besides this series and the third part, characters from the other five sections have been confirmed for the game. (though whether they will be playable like Jotaro Kujo or Dio Brando is still unknown) -wikipedia
