The lowdown:
Unusually for a game we know so little about we do know the exact release date of the next title in the most successful video game series of modern times. The date for your diaries is 19th October, 2007 – which means more than a year of painful speculation and waiting. The three PS2 games all used the same basic graphics engine and were each based on the three cities in the original PSone Grand Theft Auto game. That means that this new game is in completely uncharted territory, with only the London setting of the GTA1 mission disk and the pseudo-futuristic backdrop of GTA2 offering any kind of a clue as to what to might be coming next.
Most exciting moment:
Since no real information is know about the game the most exciting thing is obviously imaging what could be in the game. A persistent online environment? A whole simulated world rather than just a city or county? We won’t find out until much near the time.
Since you ask:
Despite some purposefully ambiguous wording from Microsoft Grand Theft Auto IV is not an Xbox 360 exclusive, not even for a limited time. It is however out on the 360 on the same day as the PS3 version.
The bottom line:
The date is set for the biggest video game release of all time.
